Coaching offers a space to work through conflicting priorities, create boundaries, identify goals, build confidence and develop a plan of action. Louise works with individuals in one-hour Zoom sessions. Packages of six sessions are a good place to start to cultivate the alchemy. Book an initial call to explore your coaching needs with Louise.

Louise is a warm, creative and empathetic coach who took the time to get to know and understand my needs and adapt her coaching style to allow me to feel comfortable and understood. Louise has the ability to go beneath the surface of a problem in search of the root cause and helped me find an image or metaphor that I could then apply as needed outside the sessions.

Louise’s Coaching Story

As an early childhood teacher, I experimented with storytelling and actively pursued opportunities to share and advance this knowledge in professional development and higher education circles. This pursuit of knowledge led me to complete a PhD on social justice storytelling as pedagogy and transformed me into an academic.

Across my years as an academic, I have successfully published four books plus 50+ peer reviewed book chapters and journal articles, been awarded 13 grants (national and international) and strategized to climb the academic ladder despite having felt the pain of rejected papers, unsuccessful grant and promotion applications and being misunderstood in a neurotypical world.

Being an academic is an all-consuming treadwheel. As a mid-career academic, I reached a point where I felt a need to partner with someone outside of the academy, who understood the academy to get perspective and strategically plot directions for my career. A friend suggested an academic coach. I hadn’t heard of such but searched and found a compatible coach. She provided a safe space for me to share and progress challenges I faced in academia.

I found the experience of partnering with a coach so highly rewarding and enriching, that a couple of years later I enrolled and completed the Certified Professional Coach Program with the International Coach Academy (ICA). Since the beginning of 2024, I have coached clients across the globe toward out-of-the-ordinary opportunities. And I have mentored early career academics for more than five years to locate creative paths for their work to have influence.

I have had the privilege of being coached by Louise on several occasions. Her peaceful, respectful, client-centred approach put me immediately at ease. In particular, I found her use of storytelling to be a remarkably effective technique for unlocking my thinking. This creative approach was perfect for articulating those tricky thoughts that are just out of reach. What an uplifting way to journey through challenges.

WENDY
SENIOR LEARNING ADVISOR, AUSTRALIA

Louise is kind, supportive, and generous. These qualities are unusual in academia, where the competitive culture can often force the disavowal of morals and ethics. She offers alternate ways of thinking and knowing that have impacted me in profound ways.

ALISA
TEACHER, AUSTRALIA

Louise is a very good listener.I’ve found her warm and supportive in our conversations. I feel that much of my research sits at an odd angle to others’ in the faculty, but I felt that Louise went out of her way to understand my interests and areas of specialty and to help me plan for the years ahead.

Louise skilfully combines her expertise as a university academic with a unique narrative approach to coaching. This has been very constructive in helping me to explore my personal and professional stories and the role I have been playing in them, unlocking insights and fostering growth. Louise follows up on your progress and shows real interest in your progress. Through our sessions, I have enjoyed her keen intellect, creativity, warmth and her calm and thoughtful manner.
