Contemporary concern for child safety minimises children’s access and chance to participate in the public sphere. In this article, Louise presents the experiences of three children as they led walks around the Valley – commonly perceived child unfriendly neighbourhood in Brisbane. The narratives of the children’s experiences foregrounded their place, interest and inclusion in what became a space where their urban literacies could be developed.
